What is Earthschooling?
The Earthschooling program provides Waldorf inspired curriculum that can be adapted to different countries, cultures and seasons (rather than the traditional European 4-seasons that current curriculum providers supply). This curriculum is also secular in nature, allowing each family to adapt the curriculum to their own spiritual needs. Extra materials are provided upon request only. Earthschooling provides full curriculum from preschool to grade four. It provides artistic, musical, handiwork, writing, reading, historical, literary, and verse supplements for grades 5 through 7th grade. Math and science supplements are also provided. In 2010 the curriculum for 5th - 7th grade will be complete. At this point 5th - 7th grade is at 85% completion and needs to be supplemented with math and science. All members who enroll in Earthschooling are given a password to the website and benefit from all updates made to the classes.
(So, for example, if someone signs up this year for the family or Lifetime membership they would receive the 5th, 6th and 7th grade lesson plans when they are ready, at no additional cost. If someone is a member of a Kindergarten lesson plans and new videos or lessons are created for this level, every member automatically received notice of these upgrades or extra lessons.)
Lessons include E-books, planning guides, video instruction for parents, visuals of some lessons, audio files for the verses, yoga cards for each month and more.
There is a free group chat once a month to help members get to know each other and to answer member questions on in a live forum situation. Daily support is offered to members via the new member website which includes a forum, many new videos, excerpts from Steiner, sheet music, a glossary of Waldorf terms, reference materials, videos and E-books on organization, information on the temperaments, information on Montressori and Waldorf, Charlotte Mason and Waldorf and an extensive FAQs section and more.
Earthschooling realizes that "one size fits all" is not something that works for everyone in the homeschooling community so it is easily adapted to any homeschooling program and was designed to integrate with other programs and to allow the integration of other programs or unit studies. Special requests are honored on a monthly basis for parents who need additional stories, verses or lessons to represent their culture or special needs. The most recent additions to our program due to parent requests were:
May 2009 – Many additional German verses (parent living in Germany requested) with English translation and MP3 in German.
July 15th – Traditional Dream Time Stories of the Australian Aborigine (Australian member request)
August 5th – Traditional Indian Stories for Indian Holidays (Indian member living in Amsterdam request)
